Ambassador Massimo Marotti meets new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari in Baghdad.

During the meeting, they discussed relations between Iraq and Italy, and ways of enhancing horizons of joint cooperation between them.

The Minister stressed that Iraq has entered a new phase after meetings of the United Nations’ General Assembly last month in New York , when the world witnessed a mass demonstration to support Iraq in its war against ISIS terrorist gangs, stressing that Iraq was clear in its message to the world that it does not need ground troops but air support in coordination with the Iraqi forces putting in consideration to avoid the bombardment of populated areas, and to respect the unity and sovereignty of Iraq.

For his part, the Italian Ambassador confirmed his country’s support for Iraq in its war against the terrorist organizations, and it seeks to strengthen ties with it in all fields.
