Announcement for bursaries offered by the Italian Government for Academic Year 2015-2016 to Iraqi citizens and Italians resident abroad (IRE Students) wishing to study or carry out research in Italy. Deadline: May 13, 2015.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides Iraqi citizens and IRE Students wishing to study or carry out researches in Italy scholarships for the Academic Year 2015-2016.

Conditions:

The scholarships are offered for the following type of courses: Undergraduate University courses (renewals only); Postgraduate University courses; Master’s Degree courses (Levels I or II); Ph.D. Courses; Specialisation Schools; Research under academic supervision; Courses of Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance (AFAM); Advanced Courses on Italian language and culture Courses for Teachers of Italian as second language.

Candidates may apply for a renewal to continue or complete a multi-year course. A renewal can be granted only if the applicant has passed the exams required in the previous year. No scholarship renewals are offered for students exceeding the legal duration of the course of study.

Before submitting their applications prospective applicants to Italian bursaries must contact the university or institution in Italy where they intend to study. They are advised to be as fully informed as possible about the institution and course of study of their choice.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1) Knowledge of the Italian language:

Italian language proficiency is a determining factor in being accepted for study in Italy and for being awarded a bursary. A B2 level “Certificate of Italian as a foreign language” must be submitted. Many Italian Cultural Institutes around the world offer Italian language courses and have language proficiency testing facilities.

For College courses held in English, applicants must submit a Certificate (or Certificates) of knowledge of the A2 level.

2) Qualifications:

• College courses degree (1* cycle) and MSC (Master (2* cycle): to start the first-cycle studies in Italy, the candidate must hold a high school certificate, valid for the access, in Iraq, at the University. Baccalaureate Certificate (baccalauréat) is compulsory. To start the second cycle studies, the candidate must possess first-level university degrees. Upon the conclusion of the attended courses students will have to take the exam. A degree is therefore mandatory.

• Courses of professional higher education, art and music: high school certificate is required, which is valid in Iraq for access to State Academies, Conservatives or legally recognized Institutions. A letter of acceptance by the Italian choosen institution It is recommended. The allowed courses, lasting at least six (6) months, are those held by institutions of Higher Vocational Education, Art , Music and Dance (Academies, Conservatories, ISIA , etc.) , Institutes of Restoration and the National School of Cinema. At the conclusion of attended courses the fellow must take the exams.

• Courses Master of I and Level II: Candidates are required a degree equal to the degree of MSC 1 * Cycle or Italian and any other documentation, according to the type of the Master, as required by the Italian choosen Institution. All Master courses must have a minimum duration of six (6) months. At the conclusion of courses attended the fellow must take the exams.
• For Italian language and culture advanced courses: the scholarship is addressed to students who have passed, in Iraq, at least one (1) university exam of Italian language.

The candidates ‘winners’ and reservists, will be asked to translate into Italian and to legalize at the Embassy of Italy all their diplomas and certificates of study; furthermore they have to ask the Italian Embassy in Baghdad for a Declaration of Value.

3) Age limits:
May submit an application, applicants who have not passed the 35 years age.

Teachers of Italian language can submit applications for scholarship if not older than 45 years of age, provided that they can prove their teaching activities at the Iraqi institutions.

4) Renewals:
recipients of “renewal scholarship” must send by mail to the Embassy of Italy the Italian university certificate proving the exams passed. Without this document, the application will be deemed inadmissible.

The demand for Scholarship only occurs online at http://borseonline.esteri.it/BorseOnLine/default.aspx .

Applications shall be accompanied by copy of an identity document in Latin characters and a certificate attesting to knowledge of the Italian language.

Deadline: May 13, 2015, at 24h,00 (Midnight) Italian time.

The scholarship doesn’t include the expenses for the journey, the research, accommodation and enrollment fees.

Duration of the scholarship: 3, 6 or 9 months for A. A. 2014/2015.

Scholarships required for a single month are accepted only for upgradeting courses addressed to Italian language teachers.

Amount of Scholarship: 700 Euros per month.

IMPORTANT!

Please be informed that scholarships will be awarded from January 2016.
The ‘proposed winners’ and the reserves are required to submit the following documents:
• Certificate of Citizenship
• Medical certificate with consular translation in Italian
• Copy of passport
• Copies of the letters of presentation of two local academic authorities (not optional if required by requirements)
• Letter of acceptance (if required)
• Letter of commitment
• Copy of certificates of qualifications
