IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE ACCESS TO THE OFFICES OF THE EMBASSY

With the aim of continuing to improve relationships with Iraqi citizens the Italian Embassy decided to adopt new measures for the access to its offices. In order to enter the Visa Section it is possible now to book an interview directly on-line.
The Visa Section in Baghdad is the first Embassy’s Service enabled to use the new procedure which will be extended in the near future to the other Services and Offices of the Embassy too.

RESTITUTION TO HOLDERS OF ITALIAN IDENTITY CARDS FOUND ABROAD.

Notice is hereby given to the owners of Italian Identity Cards being lost or stolen abroad in the case of such documents are found. In such a circumstances the found documents are normally returned to the consular offices in whose area is the theft or loss.
The Embassy therefore invites those people who have recently suffered abroad a theft/loss and want to check if their ID has been found, in contacting the Consular Office of this Embassy of Italy in Baghdad, having territorial jurisdiction, for more information. It should be noted that any withdrawal of such documents may be made, at the above Consular Office where the discovery took place, as follows:
 personally at the Consular desk;
 on request, through dispatch, with costs against him. Given the particular situation of the Country shipment may occur through courier.
With reference to the identity cards issued by the consular Network stolen or lost abroad, the consular office of this Embassy will communicate the find to the owner, informing that the same will be destroyed in the event that they have not been required to return one year from the finding date.

BAN OF IMPORTATION OF CHEMICAL PRODUCTS FROM ABROAD.

The Iraqi Government issued a list of 363 chemicals that are not allowed to be imported to Iraq, due security reasons. Any company interested can receive the list by sending an email to baghdad.commerciale@esteri.it
The service is free of charge.

ENTRY INTO FORCE OF THE NEW TARIFF LAW 22/2014 (HARMONIZED SYSTEM CUSTOMS).

The new Tariff Law 22/2010 will enter into force on January 2nd, 2014. Its application concerns all ports (land and sea) of entry into the Iraqi territory, included the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan.
At the moment the new law, whose application was initially deferred for three years, and, in July 2013, for a further six months, provides for the imposition of customs duties on imported goods equal to a maximum of 20% of the value of the goods, but changes of the list of imported goods subject to custom duties are possible in the future.
The list of goods regulated by the new Law is available at the Commercial Office of the Embassy of Italy in Baghdad and can be provided upon request to be forwarded to: baghdad.commerciale@esteri.it
Being the above list subject to variations, the Embassy of Italy does not assume any responsibility for any possible changes set up by the Iraqi authorities.
