{"id":175,"date":"2023-04-11T17:07:36","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T15:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambbaghdad.esteri.it\/chi-siamo\/"},"modified":"2024-11-07T08:50:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T07:50:52","slug":"chi-siamo","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambbaghdad.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/","title":{"rendered":"Who we are"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"UdTY9 WdefRb\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-location=\"2\">\n<div class=\"kO6q6e\">\n<p>The Chief of Mission is Ambassador Niccol\u00f2 Fontana.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Vienna <a href=\"http:\/\/legal.un.org\/ilc\/texts\/instruments\/english\/conventions\/9_1_1961.pdf\">Convention on Diplomatic Relations<\/a> dated April 18, 1961, the functions of an Embassy are, among others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To represent the sending State in the receiving State;<\/li>\n<li>To protect in the receiving State the interests of the sending State and of its nationals, within the limits permitted by international law;<\/li>\n<li>To negotiate with the Government of the receiving State;<\/li>\n<li>To ascertain by all lawful means conditions and developments in the receiving State, and reporting thereon to the Government of the sending State;<\/li>\n<li>To promote friendly relations between the sending State and the receiving State, and developing their economic, cultural and scientific relations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Embassy coordinates a network made up of the Consulate in Erbil, the AICS Office and the ICE Office in Amman, also responsible for Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>The staff of the embassy based in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambbaghdad.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/\">various offices<\/a>\u00a0is composed of personnel from the Italian\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esteri.it\/mae\/en\/\">Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/a>\u00a0and from other Italian ministries and public entities.<\/p>\n<p>Through its Consular section, the Embassy of Italy in Baghdad also offers a host of\u00a0consular services\u00a0to Italian and non-Italian citizens living within its jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"XL3Kf XExWNc\">\n<div class=\"a8FIud\">\n<div data-show-delay-ms=\"250\" data-append-to-body=\"false\" data-propagate-tooltip-mouseover-events=\"true\" data-anchor-corner=\"bottom-end\" data-enable-skip-handler=\"false\" data-popup-corner=\"top-end\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ebT7ne VOLvac iC15Kb sMVRZe\">\n<div class=\"F0pQVc\">\u200b<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Chief of Mission is Ambassador Niccol\u00f2 Fontana.
