Iraq has in fact the <strong>highest number of missions supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/strong>. Alongside traditional excavation and research activities, the projects provide <strong>training and knowledge transfer opportunities<\/strong> for local experts and operators. Therefore, these missions enhance the cultural heritage and strengthen the <strong>social-economic development<\/strong> of the sites in which they operate, promoting <strong>historical awareness<\/strong> and supporting <strong>political<\/strong> <strong>peace-making efforts in crisis areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ambbaghdad.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Elenco-delle-Missioni-archeologiche_Portale-1.pdf\">LIST OF ITALIAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL MISSIONS IN IRAQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Embassy promoted the publication of the book \u201c<strong>Treasures of Iraq<\/strong>. <strong>Italian Archaeological Missions in the Land of the Two Rivers<\/strong>\u201d edited by <strong>Treccani<\/strong>. The prestigious volume contains the results of the excavation, study and restoration activities carried out by the Italian archaeological missions in Iraq.
