The Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana, met today in Babylon with Adnan Al Faihan, Governor of Al-Hillah. At the heart of their discussion was the desire to strengthen a bond rooted in history and now aimed at new and ambitious prospects for cooperation.
For decades, Italy has been a key player in archaeological work in Iraq, leaving a profound mark right here in Babylon — the cradle of civilization and one of the wonders of the ancient world. Italian archaeological missions have contributed to uncovering and preserving the city’s unique heritage, passing on expertise and knowledge that remain a benchmark to this day.
