Baghdad, 29 June 2026 – The Embassy of Italy in Baghdad hosted this morning the meeting of the Heads of Mission of the Member States of the European Union accredited to Iraq, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, as keynote speaker.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of fifteen European countries, provided a valuable opportunity for an open and in-depth exchange of views on the evolution of Iraq’s political and economic landscape, with particular reference to relations between Baghdad and Erbil, as well as on the principal regional dynamics and the shared challenges relating to security, development and stability.
This initiative forms part of the continuous dialogue among the European partners, the Iraqi federal authorities and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and reaffirms the shared commitment to promoting the stability, cooperation and development of Iraq and the wider region.
