Travel to the Federal Republic of Iraq and to the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan is discouraged under any and all circumstances. Airspace remains closed pending further notice.
The Italian Embassy in Baghdad and the Italian General Consulate in Erbil remain open and operational.
In light of the military developments occurring within the country, Italian nationals present in Iraq are strongly recommended to exercise maximum caution in their movements, to remain in protected locations, and to refrain particularly from approaching military installations and areas of public assembly.
Furthermore, Italian nationals are earnestly advised to strictly adhere to all directions issued by the local authorities and to contact the Embassy should the need arise.
Nationals are reminded to register their presence through the Viaggiare Sicuri application by activating geolocation services, to maintain awareness through official information sources, to register their presence on https://www.dovesiamonelmondo.it/, and to monitor security alerts disseminated via the social media channels of the Embassy in Baghdad and the General Consulate in Erbil.
