The Embassy of Italy in Baghdad issues Schengen visas for short-stay (up to 90 days) for Italy, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia, as well as national long-stay visas, only for Italy (over 90 days).
All Iraqi citizens who are resident in the Republic of Iraq can submit a visa application, except those who are resident in Kurdistan, who must apply to the Italian Consulate in Erbil.
Citizens of other countries for which a Schengen visa is required can also submit a visa application, provided they are legally resident in Iraq.
All persons, age 12 and older, who apply for a short-stay visa, must provide their biometric data (fingerprints and a photograph) when they submit their application, therefore they have to be present in person to apply. Applications for long-stay visa must also be submitted in person, even though fingerprints will not be acquired.
