Travel to the Federal Republic of Iraq and to the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan is strongly discouraged under any and all circumstances. Airspace remains closed pending further notice.
The Italian Embassy in Baghdad and the Italian General Consulate in Erbil remain open and operational.
In light of the military developments occurring within the country, Italian nationals present therein are earnestly recommended to exercise maximum caution in their movements, to remain in protected locations, and to refrain particularly from approaching military installations and areas of public assembly.
Furthermore, Italian nationals are strongly advised to strictly adhere to all directions and instructions issued by the local authorities and to contact the Embassy should the necessity arise.
Nationals are reminded to register their presence within the country through the website “Dove Siamo Nel Mondo” https://www.dovesiamonelmondo.it/ or by downloading the “Viaggiare Sicuri” application, activating geolocation services and ensuring that push notifications have been enabled: any communications shall be transmitted via SMS from the number +39 342 415 4556 and through the “Viaggiare Sicuri” application with push notification.
Monitor security alerts disseminated via the social media channels of the Embassy in Baghdad and the General Consulate in Erbil.
