Meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid al-Hamdani

Ambassador Maurizio Greganti was received today by the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid al-Hamdani, for a very friendly first meeting on the opportunities for strengthening bilateral collaboration in the management of water resources, a strategic sector for the development of Iraq. Recalling his participation in the last edition of the Rome Med Dialogues, Minister al-Hamdani expressed great appreciation for the Italian contribution to the stabilization of liberated areas, in particular through Trevi’s work for ​​the Mosul dam reconstruction and the ongoing projects to ensure its safety, with the hope of an extension to other critical infrastructures in the country. The meeting was also an occasion for an exchange on the prospects of regional cooperation in the use of water resources as a means to promote stability and to fight the consequences of climate change.
