Ambassador Maurizio Greganti today received Sarab Elias Barakat, Director General for Survivors Affairs at the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA). After one year since approval by the Iraqi Parliament, they took stock of the implementation of the Yazidi Survivors Law, aimed at protecting women belonging to minorities (Yazidis, but also Christians, Turkmen and Shabak) who survived the Islamic State offensive in the North-West of Iraq. Recalling the defense of human rights and the protection of minorities as priorities of Italian foreign policy, Ambassador Greganti confirmed Italy’s commitment to the stabilization of liberated areas and to support the action carried out by the Iraqi authorities in favor of victims of violence.
