The talks confirmed the excellent state of our bilateral economic relations and provided a fruitful occasion to explore further opportunities for business cooperation between Italy and Iraq. The Minister outlined the levels of trade between our two countries in recent years, noting a growing local demand for “Made in Italy” products, synonymous of excellence and high quality. Thanks also to the reforms undertaken by this Government, the rate of foreign investment in Iraq has sharply soared from 2bl. Euros over the past two decades to the current level of around 64bl. Euros. In this regard, the Minister also strongly encouraged the growth of Italian investments, especially in the field of construction, infrastructure and design of interiors, including through the participation of Italian companies in the major trade fair events in the Country and cooperation between Italian-Iraqi business associations.
The Ambassador reiterated his full support to Italian companies interested in accessing the Iraqi market, pledging to activate a dialogue with his interlocutor to ensure appropriate facilities to import-export activities between our two countries.
