Italian Embassy in Baghdad and the Informal Gender Group join to a practical session of the “Course for Training Female Police Officers” organised by Italian Carabinieri

Gender issues are one the priorities for Italy. In light of this, for the first edition of the “Course for Training Female Police Officers”, launched by Italian Carabinieri on November 10th, the Embassy of Italy in Baghdad, with the cooperation of the Carabinieri and Iraqi institutions, yesterday has organized an event which has allowed the participation to a practical training session open to the members of the Informal Gender group, committed to promoting and enhancing gender policies in Iraq.

The goal of the course is to build competent and qualified Female Instructors, capable of planning, leading and training other Iraq/Kurdish Female Police Officers on Police Departments. The course is held by a team of 4 female Carabinieri Police Officers and is
offered to a group of 16 female police officers, selected among participants who attended Female Police Officers Courses, aimed to increase knowledge on human rights and law enforcement, special referred to gender violence.

The initiative has had a great success and it has allowed the informal gender group to assist a practical training session, understand difficulties faced by the female policy officers during their daily duties and interact with instructors and students thanks to a question and answer session.
