Ambassador Maurizio Greganti visited the Italian-Iraqi Cultural Centre in Baghdad, accompanied by Qasim Taher Hussein Sudani, General Director of the Studies and Research Department at the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, by dr. Ali Ghanim Hussein, Director of the Archaeological Training and Development Department, and by prof. Bahaa Najem Mahmood, professor at the Italian Language Department of the University of Baghdad. The meeting provided an opportunity for a discussion on the potential to develop cultural collaboration between Italy and Iraq. Afterwards, Ambassador Greganti visited two symbolic places of cultural life in Baghdad: al-Mutanabbi Street, the famous “book street” named after one of the greatest Arab poets of the 10th century, and the al-Qishleh building, an ancient Ottoman garrison now used as a space for cultural activities.
