The Italian Embassy in Baghdad, in collaboration with ICE Agency – Amman Office, organises the 3rd Italian Cuisine Week in Iraq, from 24 to 28 November.

This year’s theme ‘Mediterranean Diet and Culinary Roots: Health and Tradition’ will be explored during the week through a full calendar of events, workshops and master classes in which Italian and Iraqi chefs will work side by side to discover Italian culinary tradition.

The activities, realised in cooperation with five chefs from the Stabiese Equana Monti Lattari association, will take place at the Italian Embassy and the Al Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad.

Ambassador Niccolò Fontana, in the presence of the Director of the Baghdad Hotel Institute Saeed Fahfri Daraan, launched the inaugural workshop of the 2024 festival dedicated to Italian cuisine. This year’s classes will focus on ‘Italian Food’, ‘ABC of Pastry’, and ‘Pizza made in Naples’.

Professional chefs Tommaso De Rosa, Francesco Grieco, Aniello Somma, Nicodemo Catapano and Giovanni Russo will lead students and guests on a journey through the Italian culinary tradition by enhancing the extraordinary benefits of the Mediterranean Diet.

Cooking workshops with children from the Al-Farah Orphanage and the Al-Rahma Institute will highlight the educational and inclusive value of the culinary experience.

Two highlight events, the Gala Night on 26 November and the Pizza Party on the 28th, will provide an opportunity to celebrate, together with friends from Italy and Iraq, the authentic flavours of Italian cuisine embracing both tradition and innovation.
